First of all, congratulations! If you're reading this, you're either engaged, know someone who's engaged, or are hoping for a ring this Christmas. Either way, I'm glad you're here. Let's talk about announcements! The first time you'll announce the engagement publicly is likely through Facebook. You post the proposal images, the ring shot, and a couple photos of the two of you absolutely beaming. The second announcement will come after you've decided on a date. For some couples, this comes after they've found their dream venue, and for others, it relies entirely on your family's schedules.
And we're back with more styled guides! I love posting these, because they're not only helpful for my clients, but also they provide me with a reference point as well when I pick new outfits for the season! Whether you're on the hunt for a new date night outfit, or you have an engagement shoot coming up, you can use these ideas to inspire your next ensemble. Look at colors and materials, or copy exactly what's below, either way, you're bound to find a new favorite look with my tips below.
Choosing an outfit for your engagement session can be super frustrating. There are so many things to think about! What colors should you pick? Should you wear a dress, or pants? And how the heck do you coordinate with each other? Fear not, because I have ALL the answers for you. In the video below I outline exactly what's appropriate for the shoot, what outfits you can prepare for, and the decision-making process behind choosing the best colors to wear! Whenever in doubt, you can also rest easy knowing your photographer is there to help you make those big decisions if you're struggling. So always pack a few options just in case!
Is a family photo really complete without your pups? When planning engagement sessions with my couples, I am asked frequently 'what is the etiquette when bringing a dog to an engagement session'. Personally I'm an animal lover, so any extra time I get to play with happy pups is time well spent. But not every photographer is as eager to bring them along. If your pets are hard to keep track of, they run off when they see another animal, or they are less behaved outdoors than indoors, sure, maybe it's not such a great idea to bring them along. Either way, I've got some tips to help you plan for the best session with your sweet animals without feeling overwhelmed or unsure how to capture the right moments.
